Climbing Euonymus, also known as wintercreeper (Euonymus fortunei) is considered an invasive plant.
It aggressively forms dense mats on the ground and climbs trees, outcompeting and displacing native plants by blocking sunlight and depleting soil resources. It can strangle even large trees. The plant spreads both vegetatively through through runners and by seeds dispersed by birds, making it a serious ecological threat to forest ecosystems.
